Azalea Vision

Publication in Scientific Reports (from Nature)

One of the building blocks of the ALMA concept, Active Light Management inside a contact lens, was characterized and published in the peer-reviewed journal Scientific Reports (from Nature).

The article exemplifies the complex interaction between the different lens components (custom-made microchips, radio-frequency antennas, micro-batteries and liquid crystal cells). Additionally, it demonstrates by optical simulations and experimentation the potential of vision improvement; meaning a higher visual sharpness, lower optical aberrations and lower amount of light entering the eye.

This work, together with other scientific publications, were detailed in the Imec/UGent joint press release, which you can read here.
