WHO ARE WE?
Azalea Vision, a venture-capital-backed startup and spin-off from Imec and Ghent University, is creating a medical device with an active light management system inside a contact lens. People suffering from ocular disorders (aniridia, coloboma, ocular albinism, etc.) or neuro-ophthalmic conditions (chronic migraine, etc.) will directly benefit from Azalea Vision’s smart contact lens.

Andrés Vásquez Quintero, PhD
CTO & Co-founder
Andrés, from Colombia, is highly experienced in stretchable electronics and wearable medical devices. He has a PhD from EPFL (Switzerland) on flexible and printed technologies and ultra-thin hybrid integration. He is also Assistant Professor at Ghent University on microsystems and biocompatible electronic packaging. For the last 6 years, Andrés has developed Azalea Vision’s technology. He has demonstrated important advances on smart ophthalmic devices with the collaboration of Imec, UGent and diverse external partners.

Enrique Vega, MBA
CEO & Co-founder
Enrique, from Spain, has extensive experience in managing medical device ventures and teams in the fields of sleep apnea, cardiology, heart failure and neuromodulation. His experience leading start-ups through value-added milestones and successful financial rounds, gives the necessary support to Azalea Vision to success in the journey from development to clinical outcomes and sales growth.

Non-Executive Board Advisor & Co-founder
Peter, from The Netherlands, is a serial entrepreneur and former owner of Microlens and Jenalens, now Ophtecs-Europe, two innovative companies in the field of contact lenses. His experience in manufacturing and distribution of specialty contact lenses in Europe and beyond is of great value for Azalea Vision to succeed in the contact lens manufacturing and commercial strategy.
